Edie came running into my arms again tonight when I got home. She crunches up her face, has her hands in tiny little fists, and yells, “Mommy!!!!” The best.
Dad had to go right to work when I got back, so Edie and I played the new card matching game that Pop Pop gave her last year. She easily matches the cards up based on theme but has a slightly hard time actually putting the two pieces together. She gets it, and I try very hard not to butt in to help!
Edie got tired very quickly while she was playing the cards. It happens fast. She wanted to be carried upstairs, but I said no, and offered my hand instead. Once up, I asked her to take off her clothes, and she did this thing where she super lazily tries, but gives up after barely an attempt. I held my ground and asked her to keep trying. It took her about 4 minutes to take off her socks. She was getting frustrated, but I kept telling her she could do it. She finally did (with a little help!) and I plopped her in the bath. She wanted her toys on the back wall but asked me to get them. I said, you can get them. “But there’s bubbles in the way!” Oh Geez!
The rest of the bath went smoother and she perked up. Even when she resists getting in to the bath, once she’s in, it’s a different story and she’s happier.
Dad joined us for some bedtime kisses and she went to sleep quietly, with her lambs Lambie and Angela, and Pinky.
